Hello!

Welcome to Ready-Made History!

History lessons, ready when you are

Hi, I’m Charlotte, the founder/creator of Ready-Made History (est. June 2025). I’ve always been fascinated by the past, but it wasn’t until recently that I discovered how much I love helping others connect with it. Whilst studying for my MA in Public History, I launched this project as a way to combine my creative side with my passion for making history accessible and engaging.

Ready-Made History was born from that vision: to offer engaging, exciting, and accurate, ready-to-use historical content that supports teachers, students, tutors, and lifelong learners. Whether you're in the classroom or just curious about the past, my goal is to make history feel alive, relevant, and exciting.

I’m working to grow Ready-Made History as much as I can, to reach more people, support more educators, and share the stories that have shaped our world, but this is only the beginning, so feel free to reach out with any topics you'd like to see covered!

Thank you, and enjoy!

What we offer

At Ready-Made History, we offer three main services, that align with topics taught in school curriculums.

On top of this, we provide extra content, such as additional videos, podcast episodes, and blogs, all with the goal of exploring the past in an exciting way.

Worksheets/activities

Completing a worksheet or activity after learning about a topic, whether through audio visual or written content, is a great way to ensure knowledge is retained. Our worksheets go hand in hand with our videos,  to ensure students are comfortable with the content.

Educational Videos

Our videos are between three and six minutes long, aiming to pack in all the content you need about a topic in a manner that is fast paced and engaging, but still easy to understand and digestible for students who are unfamiliar with the content.

Source Packs

Primary sources are a great way to get comfortable and familiarised with a topic. We provide a pack of age appropriate primary sources, so students can take a hands on approach to exploring the past.

About Us

Founded in 2025 as part of a final project for my MA in Public History, Ready-Made History is your one stop shop for all things history. We create educational historical videos, which can be viewed both on our website and our YouTube channel, alongside additional resources to support your learning, all available at zero cost. This includes worksheets or activities to complete after watching the video, and even source packs, for continued independent learning, if you don't know where to start.

Whilst our content is (mainly) based on the â€‹Welsh and English school curriculums, it is built for everybody, whether you are a teacher using our resources in class, a parent looking for home schooling ideas, or just somebody who loves history, and wants to learn more in a new and exciting way, Ready-Made History has something for you.  Additionally, we are branching out, and creating extra content that doesn't fall quite inside the curriculum, but is still just as educational, entertaining, and will definitely leave you having learnt something new, by supplement your knowledge and enriching classroom learning.

Our goal is to get everyone, children and adults, excited about history, and portray it in a way that feels exciting, engaging, and fun, whilst catering for as many learning types as possible. Learning about the past should be accessible, and not a hurdle to jump, so please let us know if you do have any issues navigating the site/content, or require any other accessibility features.

As this is a new project, we currently only have a limited number of lessons available, but we are slowly working to expand, and will have content for a wider range of age groups and topics over the course of the year. Thank you for understanding, and enjoy!

Why is this necessary?

Creating different ways of both teaching and learning content has become far more common, and necessary, in recent years, for a few very important reasons, that are enhancing the education children are getting in school, and the way people are learning outside of it.

History is amazing, but sometimes it can present barriers for certain learners. Oftentimes, we learn about history through lengthy, ongoing chunks of writing, documents, letters, and more, and whilst this does provide the facts, they're hard to find, and can be boring or repetitive, especially for younger students, or students new to a topic, who don't quite know what they are looking for. Additionally, learners with certain conditions, such as dyslexia or ADHD, or even learners who are visually impaired, may find they are unable to access these documents in a way that is necessary for them. A video format can provide accessibility to so many, by providing both audio and visual cues, and can include things such as audio description or subtitles to cater to those with disabilities.

There has also been a lot of research over the past few years into learning styles, and how they affect the way that people take in and process information. Traditional historical documents only cater to one type of learner, those who learn by reading and writing, but other learners may struggle to maintain interest, or focus. By incorporating elements that work for different learners (visual, auditory etc) on top of these, we can expand the learning experience and help provide an easier way to absorb and retain information.

And finally, learning through an audio visual medium is fun! People are now used to consuming content online, with short, snappy content being more common than ever (think TikTok for example, up five hundred million users in the last seven years), and spikes in online educational content, such as podcasts. People want to learn without it feeling like a chore, and learning through a video format can make learning more interactive and engaging, making students more enthusiastic about learning a topic, and therefore more likely to digest the information at a higher rate. Short, engaging content, that also happens to be visually appealing, and similar to videos they may watch for fun in their free time, will capture their attention more effectively.
